A Short Cut to Mushrooms

Today we climbed a big hill.

Auckland is filled to the brim with Asians. Seriously, there are times when it feels like we're in Bangkok. In some places every restaurant, store and person in sight is Asian of some description. Lots and lots of choices of Asian food, it's pretty much all there is haha.

This picture is from the top of Mt. Eden, which is a huge extinct volcano in the middle of the city. The view was spectacular. Behind us you can see the mountains to the west of the city. We're thinking about hiking all the way to the west coast to see the black sand beaches!

In more mundane news, i ate a "Seafood Sensation" sub at Subway. Not the best choice.

Love!

  1. Love the stories. Keep them coming. Patrick and I will be joining the New Zealand Land of Beauty at the beginning of March. I'm excited to hear about your success. I want the best places ever stores. I have a friend in New Zealand and these were her tips

"I think the South Island's better, but on the North Island you should definately check out Rotorua because they have bubbling mud and geysers there, and in the middle there is a volcano called Mt Ruapehu and you can do a great walk there called the tongariro crossing.

Also the Coromandel Peninsula is good for Kayaking and they have a hot water beach there where you dig a hole in the sand and the water's hot. You catch a ferry over the islands from Wellington which is a nice little city but pretty windy most of the time. Raglan's a good surf spot.

Golden Bay is at the top of the South Island. Golden Bay has some good kayaking and there is also a great walk there called the abel tasman track, it' s a real good spot for summer. In winter you probably want to be where the mountains are though. Queenstown is where everyone goes. Kaikoura is a good spot for diving, it's just 3 hours north of Christchurch. Anyway its pretty easy to get around and flights are cheap - the distance isn't that huge."

    Talk soon,

    Ami
